Throgs Neck Bridge Closing
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority decided to close the Throgs Neck Bridge to heavy truck traffic due to safety concerns. In response, the heavy truck industry retained the firm. In negotiating with the MTA, the firm worked closely with The General Contractors Association of New York, and along with the trucking industry, represented the Construction Industry Council of Westchester, The Long Island Contractor’s Association, and The Mason & Concrete Contractors Association. After negotiations broke down, the firm pursued litigation obtaining a temporary restraining order and conducting a trial. At the conclusion of testimony, a settlement was reached that kept the bridge open to heavy traffic while maintaining the integrity of the bridge, avoiding the impending economic trauma to the real estate and construction industry.
